Protect yourself from job search scams

Scammers sometimes pose as employers, recruiters, or companies like We Build Resume. Here's how to stay safe.

We Build Resume will never

Ask for payment by gift card, wire transfer, or cryptocurrency.
Ask for your password, full card number, or one-time codes by phone, text, or email.
Offer you a job or guarantee employment in exchange for a fee.
Contact you from a personal email address or messaging app account.

Warning signs of a fake job offer

An offer without an interview, or an interview held only over chat.
Requests to buy equipment or pay for training up front.
Checks to deposit with instructions to send part of the money back.
Pressure to act immediately or keep the offer secret.

If you think you've been targeted

Stop communicating with the sender, don't send money or personal information, and report the scam to your local consumer protection agency. If the message claimed to be from We Build Resume, please contact us so we can investigate and warn others.
